Who is Exempt from Schengen Visa Fee?

Graduate and post graduate Indian students visiting Schengen countries for educational and training purposes are exempt from the visa fee. Also, anyone below 25 years of age and applying for a visa to participate in seminars, sports and educational events, does not need to pay the fee. Lastly, if you are an Indian researcher, looking to travel to a Schengen member state to conduct scientific research and study, you do not need to pay the visa fee.

What to do After Paying Schengen Visa Fee?

After the payment has been done, collect and preserve the receipt. This is one of the documents that needs to be carried along with other documents at the time of the visa interview. If you are planning to visit multiple Schengen countries, you need to submit your application at the embassy of the country you will be spending the maximum number of days in. In case the number of days is equal for all states, apply at the embassy of the country you will arrive at first.

How Long Will It Take to Receive Schengen Visa?

Apply for the visa at least 2-3 weeks prior to your intended date of travel, since the consulate takes at least 10 business days to process all the documents. In case of an unexpected political situation or any special case, it might take up to two months.

What to do if Schengen Visa is Denied?

An application gets denied if any information on the form is found to be suspicious or which is not in accordance to the set guidelines. In such cases, you can write an appeal letter, under Article 32(3) of the Visa Code. Submit the appeal at the embassy of the country/countries you will be visiting.
